Lecturer in Marine Sedimentology/Palaeoceano-
graphy (Level B)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Marine Sedimentology/ Palaeoceanography to join Macquarie University in Sydney as part of a growing interdisciplinary team focused on oceanographic and palaeoenvironmental events recorded in the marine sediments as a record of Earth history as it influences resource distribution and environmental change.
Macquarie University hosts the strongest geobiology and evolutionary biology groups in Australia with 42 research groups (http://www.gg.mq.edu.au/academics/) and is a world leader in isotope geochemistry with the ARC Core to Crust Fluid Systems Centre of Excellence and a member of IODP Ocean Drilling program.
The position has a geological record focus, therefore the successful candidates should have experience with stable isotope, biological or physical records of marine processes as they relate to palaeoenvironmental change and will be expected to teach and carry out innovative research in these fields.
The successful candidate will: be expected to maintain and develop an active externally funded research program; contribute to the teaching of sedimentology, marine science, palaeoceanography and sequence stratigraphy at undergraduate and masters levels; supervise higher degree research students; and undertake a share of administrative tasks. The appointee will also be expected to develop advanced level coursework material in sedimentary geology for new and/or existing Master of Geoscience and Master of Research units.
