Welcome to the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Macquarie University. The Department offers career oriented undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Geology.
If you are interested in the way the earth works, environment issues, volcanoes, natural hazards, searching for future resources, fossils or minerals and enjoy field excursions then Earth and Planetary Sciences has many course options that will interest you.
Offering a world class research environment with state-of-the-art facilities the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences hosts the ARC Centre of Excellence for Core to Crust Fluid Systems (CoE CCFS) and the ARC National Key Centre for Geochemical Evolution and Metallogeny of Continents (GEMOC). Research groups within these include the Deep Earth Geodynamics, Lithosphere Mapping and Uranium Series Research (USRG).
The Department offers a full range of Undergraduate units. Studies can be integrated with many other disciplines including biology, archaeology, history, chemistry, maths, human geography, environmental science, physics, economics or law.
There are comprehensive Masters and PhD programs and the Department is a member of the Sydney Universities Consortium of Geology and Geophysics (SUCOGG) that offers a wide range of Honours courses to students.
